I suppose that Hobart's Salamanca Place is the ideal setting for a weekly Saturday market, and yesterday's perfect weather found me mingling with the mob looking for E3 fodder! #1. ![]() #2. Throughout summer and winter the market attracts large crowds of locals and International tourists. ![]() #3. It's a pretty good place to pick up secondhand books - or at this time of year, even a box of Tasmanian cherries! ![]() #4. There is always a wide variety of fresh flowers and nursury plants on offer. (Lucky shot taken covertly from the waist at 14mm.) ![]() #5. There is a wide selection of Tasmanian timber handcrafts - um, among other distractions! ... ![]() ![]() #6. No market worthy of the name should be without a fortune teller - a good biz to be in; no capital and very little infrastructure needed! ![]() #7. Salamanca is renowned for its sidewalk restaurants where you can choose from any number of International cuisines. ![]() #8. And if you feel like a few hours cruising on the River, or a look at the city sights, then there are plenty of tours departing nearby. ![]() #9. I usually do my Fruit & Vegie shopping at the market where produce is fresh and cheap. ![]() #10. Looking at the titles is always a temptation to buy a book but knowing myself as I do, it would probably gather dust on the shelf! ![]() #11. And finally the Derwent Scottish Pipers are there to entertain the crowd and stir the blood of the Celts! ![]() __________________
