Default Loudon Hill, Ayrshire.

This is Loudon Hill and taken on one of my adventures with the dogs. It's about 4 miles from home, I'm yet to climb it but I will. There were big battles here at one time, Sir William Wallace defeated an English force in 1296 and King Robert the Bruce defeated the English in 1307.

In this pic, Winter is starting to take hold, the leaves are almost all gone but the fields are still green. I've noticed a 'grittiness to the image' which I think might be to do with the Autumn textures. A conversion to monochrome may be in order.

I would perhaps have liked to see it a little lighter, having had to peer at it to see the details, although it may well be quite a realistic portrayal of the light.

Very nice composition.

Default I like the image

I like the image the way it is! The dark and somber rendition is a reflection of the battles fought there and the Scottish as well as English blood that was spilled there.

I am descended from Robert the Bruce as well as William de Irwin.

The de Irwin family strongly supported the Bruces’, and William de Irwin became Armour Bearer and ultimately Secretary to Robert when Bruce became king. Rewarded for his twenty years as a faithful servant to Robert, William was granted the royal forest of Drum in Aberdeenshire.

Excellent image and I think it warrants a B&W conversion.

Thanks.

I've been back to the hill, I managed to get the North side of it yesterday as the Sun had swung around to hit that side of it. I also took a few others and I also recomposed the above shot, which is of the South East side of the hill with a wider lens. Those shots are in PS at the moment but I will post them later on if they are worthy.

OK, here are 2 of the better ones although I'm not quite sure about the first. The second one is my favourite so far and I'm interested to see what others think.

North facing side, as the sun begins to go down.

South East facing side.
