My first attempt at textures. Something I really like the look of sometimes and decided to try in hopes of making blown out pics more dramatic or boring photos more interesting.

yay or nay?!

thanks for looking

Well, for me, a nay. I'm not visually feeling much in the way of "texture" in any of your shots. The composition in #1 is nice.

I like the first one, even if I don't really get the texture angle. In both of them, I find the vignette in 3 of 4 corners more distracting than helpful. I would get rid of the vignette, except in the corner where none seems to be, leave that in if it's already there.

I can see the contrasts : grass vs. concrete; concrete vs. wooden boardwalk; all of that vs. the water, with the open sky as backdrop.....not sure if I would classify it as "textures." I'd probably label it "materials" or "elements"......I am so new to even LOOKING at other peoples'work that my commentary might be way off and not legitimine critique at all.. I am, however learning from all of what I see and cannot get enough exposure (no pun intended!)

i like #1... kinda looks like an old photo... although i think it could have done with even more texture, and not just on the edges
