Default The park down the street (with views of Olympic Natl. Park)

Here's your Hurricane Ridge, epphoto (under the arch of the log):

I spent the morning hopping rocks along the shoreline here with my dog. She loves the obstacle course of rocks, tide-pools, logs, and barnacles. It's pretty amusing watching a 9 lb, 1 foot long chihuahu-mutt scampering up huge boulders and jumping over craggy crevices. I think she enjoyed the challenge of finding routes that suited her size (I'd just take the easiest way for me, and left it up to her to find her own paths to follow along). Fun stuff, but a digression I guess.

Tonight I returned for some photography. I like this place - it's a bit off the beaten track, less people, less tourists, etc. Just a great place to go.

I almost fell down a semi-cliff and killed my camera and myself getting to this log. The sun was setting fast and the light on the log was amazing. I had about three minutes of furious shooting here.

Will revisit the log, maybe try to get it on 4x5 or something and stay away from the HDR / tone-mapping

Here's a less aggressively processed one. Gonna revisit this log for sure.

They all look good.
But I really like the last one the unedit version natural.
Careful where you step.

Cheers

Very nicely done images. I find myself going back to the same places I've shot before and trying to improve my shoots year after year. Good image making is a lot of work.

The only thing missing is a shot of the dog. Good shooting. The one with the sunspots all around the flare looks like a golden peacock tail. (So I have an overactive imagination.)

I agree; when I came across this log I realized I'd have some fun shooting at this location, at least until the winter's storms move it away
