Here is a photo that I took on 2/16/2006 of Horsetail Falls at Yosemite National Park.....
Raw conversion to tiff, slight adjustment in levels and contrast, resized for PC, sharpen, 16bit to 8 bit, convert to sRGB, save for web. Canon 20D (friends borrowed), Canon L IS 70-200mm lens (no IS), tripod, cable release, f 22, 1.6 seconds, AV mode, iso 100. Thank you for your comments.. __________________

Thank you DC..
It was all natural lighting. Its way, way, way up high and falls off of El Capitan. Its a unique shot and can only be captured during sunset when the sun is setting. As it sets, the light zooms in closer on the falls. You can only get this during the first three weeks of February and when the sky is clear in the west. We were there for five nights and only one night was this possible and it was just the last five minutes that the sky cleared enough. Talk about intense! It was a really cool experience to watch this. |

Excellent shot. I knew as soon as I saw it that it wasn't Horstail Falls on the Columbia River Gorge. Oh, and as far as I know, most sunset shots have to be taken at sunset. They don't count as sunset pictures if they are taken at a different time of day. I think the sunset police get after you as well.

Your shot is much prettier than one that could be gotten of the one in the Gorge. It doesn't matter how many sunsets you wait around for (or even sunrises), it will never get the light on it like this one.

Surprising colours. You chose the right time to take this shot.
