I really like the contradiction that NEM pointed out with the Red Sign in the first one--I might try to remove it from the second, but in the first it's so high-and-mighty, ominous looking, and yet the babbling of the water down the spill way is anything BUT ominous.

Great shots either way!

Cheers
Craig

Jay both are awesome, but I like the first one best due to the great lines, foreground and veiling! Great job!

Jay, are these from one of the NYC DEP reservoirs? I ask, because I think its a restricted area for video and photography since 911. I take it you've never been hassled?

Thanks for all the comments

John, This actually isn't a reservoir, but just an overflow for a small river sytem that goes through the town of Monroe. People fish in it from time to time so I'm pretty sure I was in the clear.

I have been harassed for trespassing a few times though in other state land areas by the State police dressed in green (DEC maybe)? The guy was a total jerk too. I was about 5 feet off the road trying to take a picture of a nice waterfall/ river and he pulled up screaming at me. I think he just had a bad day or something It's not like I was fishing or anything

Best,
Jay

He was probably a DEP guy. They are really paranoid about the water supply.

Jay I am glad you included both pictures. The second one shows something that might not interest too many folks as they drive by, but the angle of the second one demonstrates how you capture great landscapes by studying the point of view and including important compositional elements.
