These were taken tonight from Harbor Hospital. Any feedback/CC would be greatly appreciated. This evenings photography made me realize the importance of a shutter release cable. I took about 50 photos and 99% of them turned out shaky and not to my liking. I am on a personal quest to take an evening photo worthy of print/frame for my walls.
While I am not happy with the shots from tonight, I think the location has potential, so I will be returning in the future in an attempt to get that one great shot from here. First two photos I adjusted the sharpness and lighting using PictureProject. The last photo I adjusted curves and sharpness using Adobe CS2. ![]() ![]() ![]() -- D70s/D80 __________________

The shutter release will be valuable no doubt... but it also appears the time might be to long, which gives you the same shaky feel you talk about.. but it sounds like you took quite a few, but it for me has a feel of to long of exposure..making it appear ( shaky ). You did use a tripod right ?? What were your times..
I think your right on the location, it looks good... I personally like the POV of the second shot here.. I really like the tree included in this on the left... I think if it was me though, on your next run, ( or Crop ) I would go less foreground... I would half it between tree/ and bottom of frame.. On your first shot , I would definitely go horizontal, from that POV, omit foreground, and just play on water reflections on your re-shoot... maybe wider also... I think your sky in #1 and #2 is adequate.. once you start to loose the glow of the lights above the city, draw the line, add a little darkness above, and crop it.. the subject is all light in these shots, you don't need a lot of dark sky, but you do need some.. |

I honestly thought to myself, "hey, that looks like by the hospital..." and low and behold, I was shocked to read it was!!! Wild!!!
I prefer not to have the unattractive foreground in the images, though like Tom said, the tree is nice... just don't like the rest of the grounds appearance. Could you zoom in more, and try making a pano image? Or how about no zoom, but just assemble a pano? Top is my fav, but overall, I like these though, good effort. |

Here are a couple of crops. How do they look now?
![]() ![]() When I return I am going to walk the rest of the trail under the bridge and see if the other side has more to offer. I was looking at the location on Google Maps and there are a couple of potential vantage points that may be more optimal for such a night scene. Thanks for the feedback. __________________
