Another re-discovered file... I like this one a bit more than my other thread. This was captured a little while after the sun had set, probably 30 minutes or so.

It does look very relaxing. I'm not sure I like the islet on the horizon but also not sure why. Maybe because it's soft, or maybe because it's the only rock that significantly overlaps any of the others.
I'm guessing the sea is probably the look you were going for but I personally prefer even more exposure blur than this. |

Thanks, guys. I just wish I could have found a bit more dramatic composition, had some better light, or both... all the more reason to try again next time I'm across the country.

Very nice layering and tones in this 1 Scott! Mind sharing the Exif? I'm always curious about the water shots, especially the beach images

Excellent
Thank you. I was particularly curious what Aperture and focal length you used! I have a question unrelated to your image if you don't mind? When taking a picture into lights at night or the sun, does a higher aperture have a tendency to make the lights star out more? Or is just the longer exposure that does it? I've been trying to figure out this recipe, because I like the effect, but I can't seem to get it consistently. Especially when the Sun is involved My goal is to use 1 exposure for my shots like you do, but I'm far from that level for the tuff dynamic range images anyway. Most stuff I can get with 1 click these days, but perfecting the filters and stuff is taking time. Thanks for any thoughts you might have. Best, Jay |

Jay,
Its alwasy been my understanding that higher aperture values (read: narrower openings) yield more of the star effect. I've experience that with regard to the sun, but not light... I don't ever shoot lights , but I assume they act the same way.- Scott |

Yep, I figured you did. But it was more for the passerby reader... I would hate to confuse someone.
