Default Cumberland Falls Moonbow

This was shot around 9:30 at night by moonlight. I believe this fall, in Kentucky, is the only place in the world that has a predictable moonbow. Every month around the full moon (if it's clear weather!).

That is one extraordinary image at many levels.

Amazing and wonderful. A great image. Honestly, if you didn't explain it, I would have thought it was the result of very clever processing.

I notice a few stars in the bit of sky you included, which really plays up the magic. I think if you extended the image upward by about a third to get a little more sky, it would be even better.

I agree, but, I was wide open (15mm) on it and I would end up cutting off the fall.
That was a two shot horizontal pano to get all of it in. I struggled to even get this due to everyone around me trying to photograph it with their cell phones using flashes and display brightnesses set to max.
They need to put a red led sign up letting people know you can't shoot it with a cell phone. My exposure was 1 minute each shot at F5 and ISO 400...

Side note: the colors in the moonbow would not have been visible to an onsite observer because the eye doesn't perceive colors in light that dim.

Absolutely right. And the color doesn't appear using a flash either...
