Interesting Shots, The main thing that i would work on (as I am working on it myself) is you point of focus. I think these shots would have a lot more impact if the Face and especially the eyes were in focus more then parts of the body.

All in All, nice series though and the Important thing is to just keep shooting.

I wish one of the pros would comment on these, but, for what it's worth, I think all of them (possibly except the last one) look underexposed; especially the faces. JMO and I could be wrong — I'm not a "people shooter" but I've been watching those who are.

Since you say editing is OK ...

I upped the exposure (duplicate layer set to "screen") and sharpened. Even with sharpening, it's not very sharp — but I think more light helps.

Oh, and I added a vignette. Too bad about the missing foot there; that's something you need to watch.

Yep, I agree with the posters above. I am sure you will get a lot of help on this thread, however, at this point it would be helpful if you could list your camera settings for us.

Did you use flash ? Was flash allowed ?
What was your white balance ?
Shutter Speed ?
Aperture ?
ISO ?


Indoor and low light can be hard to work with. The compositions and the expressions look great. Congrats to you to have an opportunity to shoot an event like this...

Hopefully some others will chime in to help you narrow down what you might have done wrong with the camera settings..

First of all thanks for all comments ,editing and advices ..this will really help me in future for sure.....it is very sad and unfortunate i couldnt do it in the right way after getting such an excellent opportunity...i understand i have made wrong focusing and settings on all these photos..

THe Shutter speed at 1/60 was slow for a moving subject. Is the third one you can see motion blurr in the foot. To freeze the you would need to have faster shutter speed or use the flash.
