Nice lighting and exposure and great color balance. I'm struggling to put the elements together. Is there any relationship between the flags, pillars, and child? I'm either seeing too little of the environment to see the story, or I'm seeing too much of the environment and unrelated elements to the determent of the child's significance in the image.

this was my very first attempt at shooting, the pillars were just architecturally interesting, the wall behind her with the cracked, fallen plaster was unavoidable and is distracting but I just wanted something interesting..i see so many of the same old poses and I find them boring and uninteresting so I just tried to make something different.

Absolutely nothing wrong with that. Sometimes there is a story, sometimes there is not. Sometimes we look at a picture too hard.
