Default Sam

My 8 month old is such a poser in front of the camera, so I am taking advantage while I can! I'm still not great at the composition, but any comments would be appreciated!

He's darling. Great clarity in the shot. I might be inclined to crop the space photo left. I'm usually OK with negative space, but there's something about this one that isn't sitting right with me.

Thanks for your comments Lori, much appreciated. You're right about the negative space, I'll have a play about and see if I can give it more impact.

I like this too! I'm thinking b/w conversion. Images in high key, with light colored clothing and light background, always are my favorite b/w conversions. (hint)

Awww, so cute! I like the conversion and the crop, although the eyes are pretty low in the photo. Something to keep in mind when composing the shot is the rule of thirds.

Thanks for sharing LJ...I actually like your first crop better, but it would totally work for me if his head was on the other side of the page...Usually I like to crop negative space on the space where the head is turned towards (make sense?)...Love the the eyes, nice and bright...Awesome!!

I think this is a great photo, but now you are cropping off fingers and parts of limbs
I like the B&W conversion but I'd go for a closer crop.
I am not such a fan of negative space because I don't understand how a big white area adds to the shot. Sometime I think that things are done just because they "can" be done. What does the big white space add?
SOme might say less "Cramped" of a composition, but I'd say nah, it's just wasted space. Of course I understand this is all a matter of taste.
The photo is about the kid and in a white t-shirt, then the face has to hold the interest.
This is a great face.
Let's see it.
Plus any crop where skin of the arms is seen without a full arm is just gonna grab the eye away from the face.
Here's what I would do. SOmetimes simple is best.
