Default Hi From Baltimore, MD

Hi there!

I'm a snapshot amateur who joined the forums more to admire other people's work than to post my own. I do the usual snapshots and impromptu portraits at family gatherings and will shoot some landscapes once in a while if the mood strikes me. About every 6 months or so I get a shot or two that is worth the 19 cents that it costs to print a 4x6 at the local drug store. I'll try to post some stuff at least once in a while.

The other night however, I saw a type of camera and am hooked! A guy posted a Twin Lens Reflex (TLR) camera on craigslist. It is a cheap knockoff of a Rolleiflex. So, I've been doing research and have decided that I really want to get an inexpensive (less than $200) medium format TLR. I've never been a collector of things, but I do like things from the 40's and 50's. I thought that one of these would be fun to play with, and would look great on the shelf in my office. Maybe you can help point me towards one that is affordable, looks good, and works well.

Later,
-Tim

Here are a few of my favorite shots that I've done recently. One is from the backyard flowerbed, and the other two were taken near Depot Bay, OR.

Welcome to the Camel. This is a friendly and helpful place with photographers from all over the world. I like your photos. You have a good sense of composition. When I first took photos for our high school year book back in the sixties I used an old Rolicord twin lense film camera. I still have that camera around somewhere.

I know this is late but maybe you'll see it anyway. I too like your photographs. I too really fell in love with medium format film years ago. But I still have my beloved Mamiya C330 TLR with two lenses . It was not in the class of the Rolleiflex but did allow interchangeable lenses. I also have an unique perspective correction unit made to allow closeups which it could do since the camera comes with an integrated bellows. I even bought two or three cut film interchangeable backs for it . Perhaps I ought to post some pictures of it someday. But sorry, I am not ready to part with it even though it is a hassle to find film (even though it handles either 120 or 220 film) or find a place to get film processed.

Your Mamiya sounds really nice. Have you posted any photos that you took with it?
