Hello! I am a photographer in Kentucky who has just made the switch to digital (D80). I have been using a F100 in the studio. I use 3 White Lightning studio lights - I tried taking a meter reading and setting the ISO and apperature and shutter speed the very same way I did with the F100 (by the way - the portraits are great). BUT guess what - the shots I previewed on the camera monitor looked great - until I have the memory card processed and the shots came out at least +1 EV to dark. I thought I could preview and see the real thing - How am I supposed to know just how my pictures are going to look if I have to trial and error each setting?

Granted, I have the Canon Digital Rebel XT (350D), but on my camera you can set
how bright/dim the LCD screen is. I find it best to put it right in the middle of the settings for indoor shooting. I tend to only use it @ the brightest when I am outdoors and it is real harsh light. Just my 2¢, hope it helps ![]() * Note, I haven't do anything with a studio lighting setup, so not sure how helpful this is... Still it is worth a try to see if this is a possible reasoning for the problem. |

Thanks for feed back. I've tried the LED brightness but it didn't really change anything. The pictures look fine (correct epxosure etc) but what I see on the computer is way to dark.

Do you use a LCD monitor? I know on my laptop, unless I angle it just right
it'll appear too bright or too dark. Plus you can always bump it up/down, the brightness. But this may be misleading... if the image really IS too dark and you have the brightness of the screen (computer) turned up, you'll be sorely disappointed when you print. Thats about the most I know, I'm not very experienced in editing or studio lights, etc. Hopefully someone else will be able to better answer you ![]() __________________
