Default Hello from Australia

Hey Guys, i will try not to make this too long, but i though if I'm making an introduction thread i should try to make it at least a little bit detailed

My name is Todd, im 19 and live in W.A, When i was little like really young i used to like taking pictures. Nothing Special, just random snaps i guess of what ever interested me, but i used to really enjoy it, when i was about 12 or so, i kinda got more into gaming, and i haven't picked up a camera since until i did a term in photography in year 8.

About 10 months ago, my girlfriend suffered a stroke one of her heart valve broke off and got lodged in her brain, causing the stroke, she still can't talk, but can walk, and has seemed to developed a love for photography, (don't ask) it all started when she pulled out my crates of photos i have taken when i was younger and then she wanted a camera, so for Christmas her mum brought her a digital camera and so far it has been glued on to her, she loves taking quick snaps of things that interest her which is usually me. and this has gotten me interested in photography again, plus its some thing i can enjoy with her, i was thinking about getting something a bit more advanced than a simple point and shoot, seem so i want to get into it, especially macro and want something that i can do lots of different types of photography with, so far i was thinking of getting a canon EOS 400D from what i've read it seems to be a decent starting camera for me, im not too sure if there are many lenses for it tho, any one know?

I know the dead basic stuff like, if you're trying to take a photo of a field, make it a small apprature(sp) and a longer shutter speed i think but then you'd also need some kinda stable thing to rest it on or a tripod.
Never leave the camera facing up with no lens on to prevent dust and under-expose shots of sunsets, or something so the foreground is just shadow and the sky is vivid.

As i said i don't know much about photography but i don't mind reading alot and just playing around.

Thought i just post an introduction thread and see if anyone can give me any advice or tips.

Welcome to the Camel Streetvision. Being a Canon shooter myself, I think a 400D is a wonderful startup dslr - lots of potential and yes, many lenses.

Welcome! I am also new to the 'scene', and have the same Camera (hence my nickname!!). I don't REALLY know how to use it yet, but with some time, and many hours on this site, I'm sure I'll get the hang of it!
