Default Free PROFESSIONAL software

When I say free, I mean really free and not just free to download. I am also talking about Prefessional quality software and not clunky shareware. When you look around there is a lot of very good stuff out there. So, if your priority is a new camera or another lens, this list could be your salvation.

The Nik Collection (Windows and Mac)

RAW Therapee - a stanalone alternative to Adobe Camera RAW (Windows and Mac)
This software also has image editing and viewing facilities. For a full description see here: http://bit.ly/2a7GP5U. It can also be integrated with GIMP (see below)

HDR Projects Platin (Windows and Mac)

Serif PhotoPlus starter edition (Windows only)

NoiseWare Community Edition - bottom of page. (Windows only)

Faststone imnage viewer - also some simple editing functions (Windows only)

GIMP = GNU image manipulation program (Linux, Windows and Mac)

If I have missed anything, please add it to this list - but please avoid minor utilities like the one mentioned in my signature.

Martin

Once photography enters your bloodstream, it is like a disease.

Software: Too numerous to list but my most used utility is ShiftN for perspective correction

Gear: Canon G12, no tripod, no lenses, no flash, no remote, no cases or bags!

Thanks Stiga. I'll be teaching some teenagers about photography and I'll be sure to share this info with them.
Hope you're feeling well.

Irfanview is not an image editor, but is great for many of the simple tasks for which more sophisticated programs are less convenient.

The Nik Collection is No Longer Free. Now this popular plugin suite under the ownership of DxO. Need to think about money.
