Default Colourized critiques pls

Hello All,

I have been practicing with colourizing vintage black and white photos which is a great hobby of mine. Would like some critics on my work I don't mind any critique is valuable whether good or bad.

Many thanks in advance

helen

This is one of those processing skills that few ever need to use, but always appreciate when they see it done well.

I doubt there will be much expert critiquing possible, but for what it is worth, to my eye, it looks good.

Regards,

Peter

It's not too bad. The main issue I see with it is lack of color variety that you would find in a normal color photography. This is especially obvious in the shadow under her neck, which should be a cooler or more neutral and the highlight areas which should probably be a little warmer as well.

The best technique I've found is to take a color source image that is close in tone to what you want and sample a variety of colors from it, shadow areas, highlight areas, cheeks, lips, etc. Building up that subtle color variety will add authenticity.

Thanks for your critiques it is much appreciated, yes I need to sort out the kneck area I was concentrating more on her face but will ensure the rest of the body is colourized properly I just wanted some critique to see how I'm getting along.

many thanks

I did a levels adjustment, Selective Color adjustment, Saturation adjust...to me the image needs post processing work beyond just colorizing.
