Question Elements 7, can not save edited photos properly?

When I try to save my photos I save them in jpeg format. Then when I go into my photo album instead of the picture it gives me a piece of paper. I have no idea why its doing this or even how to fix it. I have run through the help booklet for elements but it isnt telling me anything. Help would be greatly appreciated.

How are you saving your JPEGs? Are you doing that through elements or some other program? If the photos are moved this has to be done within PSE or the program cannot track them.

when my photo is opened in elements i just go to save as and the box pops up and i choose save as jpeg then another box pops up and tells me to choose options for saving as jpegs like baseline(standard) or baseline optimized and progressive. i am very new at this so really have no idea what im doing. i dont use any other program i just save it and it goes into my picture folder.

It seems that you are doing it right. What is the file size of the jpg? Do you set the quality slider all the way to 12? If you have a large file and save to a 12 it may show a torn paper. It may also say the file is too large to display. If you click on it, it should open in the editor. Save as "baseline standard" as optimized creates a very large file.

I dont use a large file size its set right in the middle (medium) where it was to begin with. but kb are 400 something. now sometimes on the saved photo i can not get into properties but this one will let me and it says it will open with windows shell commer. i have no idea what that is. also when it says type of file it just has the name i gave it? not wether it is jpeg or anything.

I am so very confused.....but really appreciate the help!
