Default Canon 5D Mark II and Photoshop CS3

Does anyone know if CR2 files can be processed with this combination? The only way I seem to be able to get around it is to process CR2s into DNGs which seems to be a bit lossy.

Any advice appreciated.

You would have to download camera raw from Adobe then you can load as CR2 and work the RAW in the Camera Raw add on. You can't however process them directly in CS3 without conversion. If I was using this combo I'd give 16bit TIFF a try. You can process directly in Adobe Lightroom however.

According to Adobe, the 5DII is only supported in Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) 5.2 and higher. ACR 5.x is not supported by CS3. The only workaround is going with a non-PS RAW converter (ie LR2.4 or another converter) and feeding into CS3 as a TIFF, as Fred mentioned.

The DNG converter works better with the correct camera profiles. Make sure you've got everything installed correctly before writing it off as "lossy". DNG is a lossless converter so perhaps there is something off on your tuning.

Brian's right - i overlooked the cs4 dependency for Camera Raw with the Mark II.
