I am wanting to upload a photo to have a canvas print made. When I uploaded it to the site, I get a warning that says "Low Resolution - photo may appear blurry". How do I change the resolution of the photo in Corel Paint Shop Pro X2? I went to Image - Resize, and put in the size of the photo I'm wanting (which is 16x20) but it doesn't change the resolution.
Thank you for your help. Kaye __________________

Kaye, I believe that under Image, Resize menu, there is a a window for
Width, Height and Resolution. You have to select 300.000 in the resolution box if you want the print to be 16x20 at 300dpi. I hope this helps. |

Kaye,
Choose Image|Resize and set your settings in the upper part of the dialog. Next save the file as .jpg at 100% quality (select options in the save dialog and set compression factor to 1). |

Thanks jslice and Rense for replying. I tried changing the resolution to 300 and I'm still getting the same warning about low resolution. I noticed the dimension of the picture is 36 by 54. I'll try chaning that and see if that helps.

Kaye,
very easy. You have an image of a random size, lets say 3000 by 2100 pixel. If you want to print that picture with 300 dpi, you can print up to 10" by 7". If you want to print it with 150 dpi, it's 20" by 14". The software from the printers is warning you, that you don't have enough pixels to use the full resolution of the printer. Changing the DPI value of your picture won't produce you more pixels so that's not helping. Making the picture bigger in Corel Paint won't help here, because Corel Paint can't invent more details, you better let the printer do that. You have here two ways forward: Either you accept that your image can't be printed at the maximum resolution of the printer. Before doing that better check what resolution you really have (divide the number of pixels on each side by the targetsize) and decide if that's good enough for you. For many uses, 150 or even 100 DPI are good enough on big prints. As an alternative, reshoot the picture with a higher resolution. If you're already at the maximum resolution of your camera, you just learned why medium and large format cameras are still in use. Korman |

PSP actually makes more pixels, but the end result can be very ' blocky'. |
