Default What type of finishing is this and what program does it?

I'm gerold of GGamblephoto based in Maryland...

Can some one fill me in on a process of metalizing photo finishing which gives the photo an animated look. You can see the finishing that I'm inquiring about on this photographers site

My photography style is not created by photoshop / post production alone. It is a combination of on-location lighting and pre-knowledge of how I will be apply post production techniques to yield the desired visual results.

People will tend to comment on my post-production techniques, but do not realize you need a solid image(s) to start with to create quality final images.

I will be holding lighting workshops in DC, NY, & LA in the near future.

Best,

Douglas

PS. Feel free to keep the questions coming. I will be happy to answer as I am able.

Looks like draganizing. I've heard that you have to start with good material. I think the processing involves desaturation and sharpening.

some dodge and burn, some desaturation (only slight), selective high pass, manual HDR, and use of large softboxes on powerful strobes aimed directly at subjects,

Interesting technique for the odd photo, imo. But tends to get boring at the third one I see, TBH.
I'd call this style "testosteron O.D."...

How odd that a poster with 2 posts to his credit comes in, announces his company and location and asks about another professional's work. And like magic that professional happens to be the very next person to submit, cleverly announcing that he's giving a seminar on just how to accomplish the effect in question. And yet one more faithful follower comes in with a tease question.

This so reeks of bot advertising, it looks like a yahoo chat room conversation.

lol. i can understand this being a weird coincidence. I happen to have website traffic software that can track links that lead to my website. I saw a lot of traffic coming from this post and registered to answer the question. I have a blog and often receive tech questions. Im always open to share information with the community.

Ha, I didn't even notice the suspicious new accounts! His work reminds me of Dave Hill, and on other boards there are always lots of people asking for photoshop actions would produce that effect. His reply seems reasonable though... I think that's how it's done.

LOL. Looking at his site, I don't think he needs the Camel for advertising of workshops. Great work there. Impressive client list too.

He may not need Photo Camel to advertise his workshops but he says he saw "a lot" of traffic hitting his site from this thread. I don't have a counter for the number of views this thread had between OP and reply but I doubt the hits generated by a link here would be "a lot" in the time frame. That's all.

I was just trying to be nice and answer a question or 2. I really didnt need to advertise that I am having a workshop. No I did not set up a second troll account to pose a question and promote my site. I have had nearly 70+ visits from this page alone over the past few days according to my web traffic software so I came here to check it out. My apologies for inadvertently causing confusion.

What does it matter if he had "a lot" or two hits? I have a site and I visit almost all links that I see generating hits to it whether it's 1 or 100. I get curious and want to see what the connection to my site is... It seems like that's all that happened here, so maybe we can cut him a break?

I like the shot of Jon Rauch on Doug Sonders' site. I am a Nat's fan and was sorry to see him traded. These shots aren't PP alone to day the least. Lot's of forethought on the poses, and some big strobes get you in the door to finish the story in PP. Very stylized and very good work Doug.

When you have the likes of Scott Kelby referring people to your website, your probably not hurting for business. Check out the last part of his blog today:

I appreciate Doug taking the time to answer some questions. Think you do great work.

Gentlemen

It's time to sit back and enjoy the beautiful work. It is wonderfully crafted, well composed, oozing with color harmony, exciting and truly professional. If anyone is interested in cutting edge photography they should pack their bag and head down to DC ASAP!

This is the way to use PhotoShop but theses images are the result of a creative thinking and suburb camera work, not an array of PhotoShop actions. This man needs to advertise here like he needs a hole in his head. We are lucky that he took his time to sign up and off answers to questions.

I know the artist is here but I would guess Lucis Art or Topaz for some of the detail effects. Lovely work.
