Thanks! These are all safe to download? I'm a little chicken about downloading things.

It never ceases to amaze me how people want their images to show this or that effect they have seen somewhere. Don't they realize they are copying instead of creating?

It took aprox. 35 man hours to "create" the image I posted. The filter merely enhanced it.
I didn't "copy" anyone's style or technique.

I've tried my best to recreate the look in PS, but I can't get it.
Would you mind sharing your technique and or the filters used for the benefit of those who do not have Lucis?

Directory of plugins for photoshop
FreePhotoshop - Adobe Photoshop plugins and filters reviews.

Sounds like an implication I've copied something I've seen before.

Mind sharing where you'd seen the type of image I've posted?

This is not about any particular image of yours. This is about you stating you use filters/plug-ins 'to enhance' your image(s). When you do that you use someone else's technique: the plug-in writer's. That's OK. What's not OK is that you apparently think you are being creative when you do that. You are not. Just imho of course.

So using a sharpen tool in photoshop to sharpen an image is copying someone else's work too? Unless you write your own computer software and built your camera and cpu from scratch you are using someone else's program and/or tools to create your work. If they didn't want other people using their tools they wouldn't be selling them.

Point taken...please let it go. This isn't pertinent to the thread I started to find out more information regarding the Lucis Art program.
Thank you,
Lori

I used a touch of Lucis on the image posted below.

5 International PPA Print Masters with Judging Credentials (and 2 alternates) found this image creative enough to put it into the 2007 Showcase Collection.

Creativity is #2 on the list of elements Affiliated Judges look for when judging prints, with Impact being the only element listed befort creativity.

The Showcase Collection honors some of the world's finest images each year, and publishes a book with the images selected for that year.

This image was not only accepted into the Showcase Collection, it was also awarded a Judge's Choice Award by Mike Scalf, Master of Photography Cr. Photog., who, in his deposition, listed the creative process to be "overwhelming".

Whatever else this mini debate may tell you, Mark, it illustrates that 'creating' and 'creativity' mean entirely different things to different people. You can't get much more subjective that that.

Not that I own a copy of Lucis Art but from some of the images that I have seen posted that were produced using it, it would appear to be a worth while investment for the professional or those who can afford such a tool...

Art is what we see and then try to make from it...

All art is a copy of something one's minds eye has captured and enjoyed...

The art is not the image but the twist made to it through the artists mind, because almost everything has been done before... Nothing is truely new...

I really enjoy Mark's images of aircraft and military vehicles in thier representative captures, or productions... now am I copying his art by taking pictures of the many vehicles I have available to me to shoot and then producing something that could be called a copy of his art, well truethfully yes but there isn't anything wrong with it as long as it isn't his exact image... because mine is the way I see it and the way I would like it presented.... Nothing is new, now go out and make some art, because that is what we do as photographers and artist....

Mark you are always welcome to come out and shoot images of the vehicles that are at my disposal for your art, I don't own the concept or the art it's self, but the image I produced and therefore we could sit side by side and shoot images of the same stock and sit behind CS3 in the same room and still produce our own view of art...

Just IMHO....
