Default Vista compatibility

I just unpacked my first computer using Windows Vista and discovered that my (admittedly outdated) Photoshop Elements 3.0 and PS7.0 won't run. Does anyone have any other warnings before I buy another program when it comes to Vista compatibility? Does Paint Shop Pro run? 12 only or how far back?

Check if the software site for your program has any update.
Before splurgeing any money.
Aldo check and see if they have any support for your software.
Cheers
Ps I don't use any of those program

Right click on the shortcut of the program on your desktop and bring up Properties.
Click on the Compatibility tab.
Check the box "Run this progrm in compatibility mode for" and select the version of Windows (95 through XP SP2) you want/need to run it in. That "should" get those old programs running.

You really need to upgrade some of those programs (but you know that), and just make sure all the future software purchases are Vista compatiable.

Can't you 'downgrade' to XP? Afaik, XP will stop being sold on July 1st. That's next Tuesday! So, if you're fast, there is still hope!

As it turned out being forced to upgrade Elements 3.0 to 6.0 was a great benefit. The improved features between the two versions have been much appreciated here.

PSE 6.0 runs on XP too. So no need to upgrade to Vista for that.

Uh...he didn't have PSE6. He bought a new computer with Vista and had PSE3.

Goofup's solution usually works just fine, fwiw.

And Microsoft ends XP sales today. Vista only from this point forward.

I don't think you can downgrade to XP unless you upgraded to Vista. Running an XP install will require a clean start.
