Have overworked my five functioning brain cells trying to figure this out. How can I paint the left front corner of this truck to look as if if is new? The concept was to show the old truck still remembers how it looked when it was bright and new. Every combination of brushes/opacities/layers I have tried give me a flat, no contour look. Am I just wasting my time? (Am using PS CS3 Extended.) My keyboard and mouse have given me an ultimatum--get help or we quit.

It could be done with something like Painter, but I wouldn't even try it using the existing fender, even with PS. Be really, really hard to come up with the sheen and highlights of a fresh paint job.
What I'd do is "borrow" an already painted fender from another picture (good ole Google image search) to replace that one. You'll have to size it, and adjust the perspective to fit, but that would be much easier. |

Thanks for the ideas. Would have answered sooner but have been writing English lessons for one of the students I mentor/tutor.
Goofup, I believe your idea will work. Found a large enough file through Google and plugged it in. Am having a bit of a problem getting it all lined up, but it will solve the problem. Darn you Paul, You opened up a whole new area to explore. While I'm not going to use it this time I can see spending a few nights just playing with all of that "stuff. It will be a week or so before this project is ready to share. Will post it when it is done. Thanks again for the help. |

Thats gonna be tuff! I can't think of a way to do it other than being a great painter with an eye for painting highlights and such.
Paul did a nice job though with the filters!! Best, Jay |

Thanks guys for all of your help. I ended up using Goof up's suggestion. It gave me an acceptable product. It was also a great learning project. May look pretty amateurish to most of you (looks a lot better as a 12 X 18 inch print), still filled all of the requirements. Thanks again.

John, Thanks but I'm afraid that truck is finished. The owner tells me the engine is locked up solid. He just likes it sitting in front of his repair shop.

My brother in law and I almost bought a '57 Chevy truck in this condition. Thank God we didn't - my sister and my wife would have killed us both. My BIL still has his '67 GTO though.
