My Canon software wont let me, 20mm is the widest it will allow. Is there other programs or some one out there that can? Taken with RAW and Large JPEG so both file types available. Or do I just slap myself now?

ahve you tried it in photoshop? the cs2 ver is kind of clunky, but that is an area they really beefed up in cs3! i do all my panos in cs3 now and almost feel lazy because the program does such a great job!! it def works with a 17mm lens too, thats one of my fav landscape lenses!

Some lenses below 20mm tend to really "fisheye" or otherwise distort the image in the corners and edges. So making a smooth pano can be tough work for a program. Some do it better than others, but it has a lot to do with the images too.

I will try a friend who has cs3, must save up and get the software! unless you want 11 large files sent across the world to you, might be easier for me to go across the street! |

mr pickels is right about there being barrel distortion when using a wide angle lens for yuor panos. one way to minimise this distortion is to orient your camera in portrait mode. it also helps when you dont have anything with too straight an edge located near the edges but this is not always possible, but be sure to give plenty of overlap and you should be fine. definately start saving up! i think the regular version has access to the new pano engin, but i tihkn some features are disabled, (not %100 on this). check out the academic discounters!!! is you, or anyone in your family is a syudent or you work for certain types of businesses, you qualify. cs3 extended', without academic discount=close to $1000! w/ discount= like $299!!! otherwise, goto their web-site and download the 30 free trial!! that takes you right up till about christmas!

Actually its dawn at my place, east coast of Oz, just south of Sydney, a rare morning with a timid ocean! Now I just need to find a printer to make a 3foot by 1 foot poster!

good on ya', mate!
because i live on the west coast of the us, i guess whenever i see a sun over water i just assume its a sunset ! the easier way to print this would be to use a printer that prints 1'x3' and change the orrientation of the image. most printers will print at least 12" wide and the length is pretty open, i thikn the 1800 will actually print banners up to 33' long! but the problem is finding paper that size. unless you ar printing from rolls, it may be easier to send this one out for printing. |

Thanks mate!! I am going for a canvas print, see how it turns out, the company has been doing canvas prints for yonks and they say they never have had an unhappy customer. By the time I get it printed on quality paper and framed the canvas is a really cost attractive option but you loose so much fine detail. Next time you are in Oz you can pop in and have a look!! I owe you a drink anyway!

Really nice work
Whats the difference with the photo stitch in CS3 compared to CS2? I just used it last night and didn't notice anything different? Do you use auto?? I was tempted to try the interactive, but ran out of time ![]() Thanks, Jay |

in my experience, the cs3 just seems to do better with seams and color transitions. i found i had to do a lot of touch ups on areas like skies and stuff like that. i would get these funny color transitions. i think the improvement has something to do with the beefed up "align layers" and blend layers" features. the cs2 ver wasnt bed per se, but i think i like the cs3 ver better.in cs3 i usually stick to auto.
