Not ecessarily free, and can do basic editing (crop, resize...etc)
I prefer Acdsee because it's very convenient and fast, but their site seems down so thought of checking other programs. Faststone is nice and light but not as convenient as Acdsee (or maybe I didn't get used to it enough). So what's your favorite viewer. __________________

Do you mean image hosting site if you do I have been using photobucket for a couple years now without any problems , they have never dropped a link or crashed on me .
Then for my business gallery I have been using printroom so far so good. |

Photo Mechanic. Not sure if you can resize, but it has some FTP features and lots of other cool stuff- i.e. extract JPEG previews out of RAW files. Pricey, and you need a subscription for updates after a year, but the updates are worth it. The demo of the latest version I just installed is light years ahead of the somewhat older version we have in the office.

Try this link I just used it and it works. ACDSee Photo Software
I have used ACDsee for years and years and don't know if I am just used to it or if it is the best. It is a lot slower opening an image thatn the eairlier versions but then oru files are much larger now. |

When I go to the link the Capt provided, and click on the software products, they all come up fine.
I would have added a bit to your OP like: " I am currently demoing ACDSee, and like it, but their site is down so I can't buy it yet. In the meantime, is there other software like this that may be better or cheaper that I should compare this against?" |

Agree, should have said that. However I'm also interested in trying something new, such as what Micheal suggested. Unfortunately, it's way too expensive.... $150 to purchase + $90 for yearly updates. Photo Mechanic probably has a lot of functionality others don't, but the basic Acdsee is $35-40.

I like gwenview, it is free and works with kde using linux as the operating system. I use Bibble Pro for camera raw, which I had to pay for, and it runs natively under Linux as well.
thanks, Danny |
