Any GIMP users out there. This was recommended to me and I'd like to hear from any GIMP users. I'd be looking at the Windows version for now but I may be setting up a LINUX machine in the near future.

I personally didn't much like it. I went from paintshop pro to gimp and then to photoshop (got a free one from someone who had bought too many licenses...otherwise I would have had to go back to paintshop pro). For me it just wasn't as intuitive as PSP or PS for some reason. I don't know why, but it seemed that some things didn't do what they should do or did things they shouldn't do and it wasn't as well thought out as the other two programs. I was wanting to move away from PSP which although I love to use it for my drawings, didn't do some of what I wanted it to do otherwise. I still use PSP for drawing often, and use my PS 7.0 for photos and deleted gimp from my computer it just frustrated me no end.
Now, that is JMHO and I know that lots of people really like it. I say try it out, see what you think about it and you may find you like it and that it makes more sense to you than other programs have. I think it is just a personal thing. Sort of how with painting, my mom likes to do watercolours best but to me...that is backwards and I can't stand it (hilights should be added last, not you shouldn't have to leave white space from the very beginning, that's just wrong! ) but she hasn't ever really enjoyed working with oils and acrylics like I do. We both love to play with and look at the other medium, but it doesn't click for us.Sara |

I have it on my machine but never have really gotten the "hang" of using it. I mostly use PSP instead, reverting to Corel Photo-Paint for those things PSP won't do. I still distrust Adobe after they tried to pull a Microsoft with PostScript fonts, so I refuse to put Photoshop on my machine.
