Default Question

Hi all,

A couple months back someone posted a link to a Photoshop video tutorial that had to do with increasing contrast or something. At the end it had a lake and sky scene and when the filter was applied it really increased the clouds in the sky. Could I be anymore vague? If anyone knows the video I'm talking about please let me know.

I think Don may have posted it. Any way I know this is not the best form for this but I've searched this and several sites that I normally frequent.

Thanks,
Jim

hmm, i haven't seen this video.. but you could just make some multiply/darken blending layers to achieve this, and mask out the rest

You can check out Russell Brown's videos. I don't recall seeing any with a lake in it but he does some really amazing stuff with changing skies as well as other things.

You might try USM with settings of 50 50 0. This boosts the midtones and may be what you want.

This site has some good tutorials, this one in specific is on high contrast b/w images but the techniques could be adapted for other uses.

Hi Jim,
If you will post an example photo that is typical of the images you have in mind (which need contrast enhancement), I'm sure we can come up with some remedies. Just a simple curves adjustment layer is the all purpose tool, but lots of other methods exist.

Cheers/Mike

Mike,

I don't have a particular image in mind. It was a filter or something in CS and at the time I only had PS7. Now I've upgraded and wanted to play around with the filter.

Thanks,
Jim

Cool to know. I use 20 50 0 to "defog" that I saw on Luminous Landscape. Hmmmm maybe it was there I saw the video.

Thanks,
Jim
