Well I turn to you folks for help again. I have the new Dell 2704 up and running pretty well. Figured out how to increase size of stuff on higher resolutions and ended up using 1360x768 until you folks tell me I made a mistake.I used a spyder II to set screen color and need some help again. The screen is so bright it hurts my eyes to look at it. Can I get the correct color is I reduce the brightness/contrast to a more comfortable level. Thaks again for all your help. __________________

I don't have a Spyder II (or a I for that matter), but...
Was the screen really bright before you calibrated it? "Normally", your Contrast is pretty high, like 95-100, and the Brightness is lower, like 60 or so but it depends on the room ambient light. if you don't have a calibrator, typically you'd set the contrast high, and brightness high, and drop the brightness till the screen looks right. If you are way off from that, I'd set it like that, and then re-calibrate and see what happens. If it goes to bad bad, I'd get a replacement or something maybe. |

If you are running it DVI, I believe you can only control the brightness. I have the same issue on my 2405. I have the brightness turned down to 50.
And 1360 x 768 sounds like a good compromise. If it works for you, it works! Bob |

Turn it all the way up, run the Spyder, apply the new profile, and turn it down. Your eyes will eventually adjust to it at full on, but if it hurts... One warning, some colors may not display correctly if it isn't on the highest setting. The best plan is to get used to it.

For now, I will have to compromise and turn it down and see what I get. Thanks again everyone. By the way, the Spuder II worked very well, allowing me to set the screen and printer. Both seem pretty accurate at this time. |

Seems kind of odd to me to set it up, do a calibration, and then change the controls. Might be me, but sounds kind of dumb and gimmicky. |

Well you guys are discussing the subject I got a LG L1919S 19" LCD screen today to go with my CRT LG Flatron. I used Spyder Pro to calibrate and I get completely different colours. I trust teh CRT as I have used it for months with no complaints from anyone viewing my pics on the web but the LCD has a bit of a red cast and is too bright. However Spyder says it gets funny results so use factory profiles which don't work....any ideas?
