Default Does anyone else have this problem with DPP?

DPPViewer.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

I was scrooling through some folders to find a picture and this popped up, now everytime I try to open DPP this pops up and shuts me down.

Hi there yes I did run in to that once.
so if you have the cd that came with the camra
put it in the cd or dvd drive open window explore > folder troubleshoot > click on regupid_is > follow on screen.
Hope this help.

Version DPP 2.2
I removed the program and rebooted then reinstalled it, this did not fix it....

I did as you suggested
put it in the cd or dvd drive open window explore > folder troubleshoot > click on regupid_is > follow on screen. I did not get any info to follow at this point. Somthing flashe up real quick like in the upper right corner of my screen. and then a small window popped up that said .success with an OK button to click and close that small window.

I used restore system, and restored to a point last week and it is now working.
I had this happen before and this is how I corrected it. I then started using Elements 5 for my raw processing, I thought I would go back and give DPP another try I then got the same error. I emailed Canon and they did not have a fix. so I was hoping someone here may have a solution. I think I will stick with Adobe's E5's Raw converter. Thanks for the suggestions. If anyone has any other things I can do I will gladly likre to hear them. Thanks Again

I think that DPP is a very rudimentary software. I am a nikon shooter but if I were a canonist i would use capture one raw developer or adobe lightroom.

Did you reboot after that was done?
well when was the last time you had to format and reinstall windows is it xp? or win 98?
If it more than one year? then its possible that the regestry is totally corrupt or overcrowerd with too many old regestry. Are you using any regesrty checker or cleaner program?
well one way is to look for the program and delete the DLL files. then go to add remove the DPP program if there is anything there that say to repair it then see if it can repair it before deleteing the DLL file.
Its sad that it happens but unfortanely it happens.
But do back up any important data and file pictures ect.ect.
have you ever run sfc /scannow make sure your window cd is in the drive.?
in order to use it
start >run>cmd>
then type in in the cmd window sfc /scannow and hope fully it will find it and fixsome of the regestry.

Thank you for the advice. I had tried again to download but that did not work. I right clicked on start and there underneath explore was DPP! After I left clicked on it it worked and now can open it from icon.
I spoke to a computer guru and he cannot explain this.

You need to go to Canon's website and download the updated software. DPP is up to up to v.3.
