In case nobody knows about this feature. Might make you NOT say NO to Lightroom so fast.
In the Develop Module, on the left side, there is a section for Presets. These are basically templates you can use to make corrections. You CAN make your own Presets by adjusting your image the way you want it, and then hitting the Add button in the Preset section. A dialog will pop up asking what you want to include in your preset, so select accordingly. Save it and it will be in the list for you to use next time. You can put virtually anything in the Preset, including Lens Correction or Split Toning or Color Adjustments. If you have a lens that does a bit of barreling or something, just adjust an image that was taken with the lens to "make it right". Save the Preset. next time you use that lens, you can open one or all the images from it, hit the Preset, and they all are "corrected". So, you don't want to do a lot of playing with this Preset thing? Then how about a bunch of already created Presets, with example image of each one? Here ya go.... Color Effects (including Cross Process, Color Infrared, Velvia, Vibrant, High Pass, etc): http://www.method-photo.co.uk/lightroom/#1 Black & White (including Infrared, Old (4 of them), Red or Green Filtered, etc): http://www.method-photo.co.uk/lightroom/#2 Split Tone/Old Process (all kinds of different "colored" versions): http://www.method-photo.co.uk/lightroom/#3 High Dynamic Range (Six different HDR versions): http://www.method-photo.co.uk/lightroom/#4 Want to download a whole category from above? Click these links, and save the file: Color Set (includes HDR) - http://www.method-photo.co.uk/lightr...ol_presets.zip B&W Set - http://www.method-photo.co.uk/lightr...bw_presets.zip Split Tone Set - http://www.method-photo.co.uk/lightr...st_presets.zip Instructions are at the top of that page, or you can read this: For a Mac, they go here: ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/Develop Presets/ (Where "~" is your user directory.) For a PC: C:\Documents and Settings\<your_username>\Application Data\Adobe\Lightroom\Develop Presets (Where <your_username> is your login name) NOTE: Here is something they don't tell ya. When you unzip them dudes (they are text files, really), they will have an extension called "lrtemplate". That will NOT work (in Beta 4.1 anyway). If you open Lightroom, they won't be there. So, after exploding them all, change the extension to "agtemplate" (change lr to ag). When you open Lightroom, they will all be there. __________________

THANK YOU! ![]() I have been saving some of my own 'presets' and had wondered about 'plugins', but since it was 'only' beta, I didn't bother enough to go explore... Now that 1.0 is coming ( for free ), I planned to do a wider workflowtest, so these will come in handy! Thanks for sharing! Max@Home |

There are some Beta4 specific Develop Presets on the page below. From what I can tell, the ones posted above are for the forthcoming version 1.o of Lightroom. So, I'd say in v1, the file extension will be "lrtemplate". So, if you use the presets above in v1, they may not work till you change the extension back, or just re-unzip them.
Here are ones for Beta4, if anybody cares: http://www.method-photo.co.uk/lightroom/index4.html |

Try this in Lightroom for some "advanced" stuff.
Inside of Lightroom, in the Develop module, open the Lens Corrections section, in the Lens Vignette portion, slide the Amount slider left to -100, and the Midpoint slider to about 40. Do you like the nice subtle dark edges? Not to bad for not using PS, and you just made a simple adjustment that can be saved as a Preset. Need to darken the edges some time? Just click the preset. Boom. |

Another place to look for Lightroom customization items is www.LightroomExtra.com
Disclosure - yes it is mine. Take a look, let me know your views. What is on the Lightroom Extra site? There are now Panel End Markers, Print Templates, Web Templates, ID plates and Metadata Templates hosted at Lightroom Extra. The content is growing all the time, please feel free to submit some of your customization items. For everyone who is new to Adobe Lightroom, I include instructions on where to install the custom items. Instructions are provided for both Mac and PC. For the more creative, the site enables users to submit their own customisations. Did I mention "free, and no registration"? |
