Anyone recall a promise for a spcecial break for registered owners of RawShooter Premium who got left out in the cold when Adobe bought the company?

According to Jack Nack of Adobe in a previous statement, RSP registered owners will be notified by email on or after the date that Lightroom 1.0 is released. Notification will provide download instructions. Shipment of disk, manual, etc is not an option for this offer.

There are two very different markets for this product. *Some of us want a do-all that will allow us to process photos from start to finish, file them neatly and spend no time in the process. *Others of us don't care about any feature they have which can already be found in another program that we have but we want a massive improvement in RAW conversion giving sparkling clean colors and exceptional control of dynamic range. *The Beta was poor at the first and horrible at the last (IMHO). *If they honor the promise of a free copy to RSP victims, I suppose I'll download it but using it for daily work is quite another matter. *The time elapsed since the Beta release suggests this will be a rush to market and they will fix problems on a version 2 which will not be free. *My bottom line is that if it does not convert clean reds better than DPP, it is trash. *I would prefer they not even package a file management program since I only want a great converter not a half hearted effort at everything.

If all you want is a great converter, then I have no idea why you are even looking at Lightroom, or even thinking about downloading it.
The best converter for you is DPP. I seriously doubt that ANYBODY has software that will be more accurate at color conversions than the people that make the camera system. Lightroom is designed to manage, convert, and display images. one can argue that it isn't for the occasional shooter, but neither is PSCS, PSCS2, or PSCS3. Lightroom is a good overall program that does a good job at several things. It is not as good at some things that programs like PS or PSP do well. And, PS and PSP are not as good at some things that LR does. I think it needs to be $50 cheaper to force the Bibble and Sillypix people to drop the price of their converters, but I think it is worth $199 regardless. |

From Adobe forum on Jan 5, 2007. "The offer to provide Lightroom 1.0 free of charge to Pixmantec RawShooter Premium customers was disclosed via the FAQ on Pixmantec.com.(http://www.pixmantec.com/pdf/FAQ_Pixmantec.pdf) The offer still stands and Adobe will contact customers via the email address they used in the purchase process for RawShooter Premium. The program will begin the same day that Lightroom 1.0 ships but not before. The tool to convert RSP settings to visually similar Adobe Camera Raw and Lightroom settings is also in development and I hope to provide it at the same time. (Caveat: Visually similar does not mean identical given the difference in processing algorithms) Thanks for asking the question and it's been a pleasure having the RawShooter Premium customers join the discussion surrounding Lightroom's public preview development. Regards, Tom Hogarty Adobe Systems |

Im awaiting the e-mail from Adobe. If I compare RSP to Lightroom, I must say that RWS was more intuitive.
Soon after the news that RSP was bought by Adobe I started concentrating more and more on Bibble and Silkypix. |
