The highest version of ACR that can be used with PSCS is ver. 2.4. I have downloaded this plugin and copied it to the proper folder. The read-me file that accompanies this plugin indicates that it is not compatible with raw images from Nikon D200. (It does list the D100 as compatible, so the rest of this may be academic.)
At the same time I have downloaded Adobe DNG, ver. 3.4. lts read-me file indicates that it will work with D200 raw images (NEF files?). I am guessing that the proper workflow would be to run DNG on the D200 raw (NEF) file to produce a DNG file. Thereafter the DNG file would be opened in PS using the ACR plugin. Can someone tell me if this guess is correct or if I am totally confused. If the latter, any help would be appreciated. I should mention that, as yet, I do not have a digital camera in order to experiment. This is all in preparation for the great day. Cheers/Mike __________________

I don't know NEF files, but as long as DNG can handle them, your workflow guess is correct. DNG Converter will work on a folder of RAW images, which you can save to the same or a new location as DNGs. ACR will open the DNGs and allow you to make changes to exposure, temperature, etc., and update the DNG preview.

Yes, you are correct. You do need PSCS and Adobe RAW 2.4
Next get the Adobe DNG convert program. Run it on a directory, and Convert the images. In PSCS, you will be able to open the DNG files. They will open the ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) "plugin" before going to PSCS. Just like you want. |

Thanks Mr. P.
I have already downloaded the converter; ver. 3.4. I note that a ver. 3.5 is now available. Mike |

Max:
Thanks for the input. Note however that PSCS (Not CS2) will not accept an ACR plugin higher than ver. 2.4 Mike. |

Mike,
I know PSCS only accepts ACR 2.4, but to convert the latest camera RAW/NEF to DNG, you need the latest DNG converter ![]() Then, like you proposed, you can open any of the latest camera's RAW/NEF-DNG'ed in PSCS ![]() ...€0.02 more... Kindest regards! Max@Home |

Blumesan,
To make it more detailed, I don't think Adobe releases the DNG convertor all by itself. So, you have to get the latest with the latest ACR. Bundled is more the word. So, you "should" download the latest one (3.6 beta right now), and ONLY use the DNG part of it. Once you convert with the DNG Convertor, then PSCS with the 2.4 ACR will open the DNG files.... __________________
