Default Help needed--ACR saving settings to DNG

When i make changes to the DNG file in ACR, when i click "OK" to open the file in PS, ACR updates the DNG. I was playing with a technique and had overexposed several files before i noticed the original DNG had been overwritten.

Why is it doing this, and how can i make it stop?

ACR retains settings upon initial conversion of the RAW file. While I haven't really worked with DNG files, I do know that you should be able to reopen a RAW files and reverse whatever you were doing before reconverting, or restore the settings you've saved for "camera default" using the dropdown menu to load settings.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't think it was doing that when i first started out, but i must have missed it. It's a relief to know that my images aren't permanently toasted, anyway.

Before making experimental changes and clicking Open in ACR, click the triangle for the flyout menu, and save the settings. Later, you can choose to load the settings from the settings file (should be a .xmp) you just saved from that same flyout menu.
