Default CS2 and PE5 in Vista 64

Morning all;

I have installed both my Elements 5 and CS2 in my Vista 64bit.

I have edited in both and both programs are working the NEF raw files fine.

For some reason, CS2 Bridge is not showing any of my Raw NEF Image Previews.
PE5 Organizer IS showing all images but it takes a while for it to show the previews of my PSD files.

I have installed the ACR files where there supposed to be but nothing I do can make them work in viewing the Previews in Bridge.

ACR versions are:
Elements5 is ACR v4.6
CS2 is ACR v3.7

I have also tried inserting these ACR files as well in both:

Organizer (Plug-in/File Format)
Bridge (Plug-In) There is no File Format Director Listed.

But, nothing seems to work. I had everything working fine in XP. Could it be just a quirck in Vista or have I forgot to do something.

Now, in CS2 I am showing 2 ACR versions in about. I see the one I placed there but I can't find the version I guess came with the install program. When I remove my ACR3.7 I am getting the message that CS2 can't read these files so maybe its not really there after all.

Is it possible it might be a Hidden File for some reason? Could having these two versions, (btw the older version is 3.0 and I don't have it to insert it so it must have been from the Install) effect the Bridge and not the Editor?

Thank you for your help.

Default Re: CS2 and PE5 in Vista 64

Problem solved.

I was given this link to an article about this from the Elements Village Site. Thanks again, Wendy...

This is pretty cool and it seems Bridge uses ACR from the Adobe/common files instead of from the CS2 side of things. That was ACR ver 3.0 and of course that doesn't acknowledge my Nikon D80 raw NEF files. I think ver 3 was too old but, for some reason it worked for me when I was using XP Home SP2. After I replaced the ACR from the common directory, I still had to do a Purge of the Central Cache and then all of my Icons came up like there supposed to.

Here is the Link for the Article on the Adobe Pages. BTW, Adobe has announced that it is now offering CS4 for half price again in case you missed it. Seems like they do this when the new version is about to come out. Keep an eye out for CS5.

Generic camera thumbnails still appear after you install Camera Raw 3.4 update (Adobe Bridge 1.0)
