Default colour to B&W conversion , what settings ?

If I were to run a set of wedding pictures through photoshop to give the client a set of B&W along with the colour prints how should it be done ?
The last time I set them all to minimum saturation and the results were ok . What is the best way ?

Try this action

www.paulhodson.f2s.com/BW.atn

It uses Channel Mixer to give different effects and you can adjust the settings manually if you like.

ok , I've downloaded the action and when I click on it photoshop opens , but how do I get it to run on a picture ? Do I somehow save it into photoshop's memory ?
[ I have never been too good with photoshop , it is not a very user-friendly program]

remember where you downloaded to then in photoshop in the action pallet on the top right handside is a little arrow click on this and a menu will appear you will see one called load action follow that to your action and just click on your action.
Loaded
If it came as a zip file you need to right click explore and drag the action out on to your desk top

What DC2 said....

But if you put your actions into the "Program Files\Adobe\PSCS\Presets\Photoshop Actions" directory (or similar verbage to this), then they will appear in the "menu" when you click the little right arrow on the Actions pallette. (You won't have to hitLoad Action, and then go find it)

When loaded, you will see it in the Actions palette, and you click the drop down arrow beside it, select the "embedded action" and hit the play button.
