Perhaps I am missing something in all this, but I do like having the flexibility of using raw and memory space is not an issue, but I can't find a way to convert a large number of raw files into a jpg format without opening each one, jumping through a few hoops and then saving the file as a jpg. This takes me hours to do for a hundred or so photos. The batch or automate functions still require each file to open in photoshop. Unless, as I said earlier, I am missing something.

In Photoshop CS2? Ctrl-click to select a bunch of raw files in Bridge, then right click and choose Open in Camera Raw. Use the thumbnails on the left to navigate through the images, setting up the conversion parameters. Then press the Select all button, choose you output settings at the bottom, and click Save. The choose a destination, naming convention, and format, then click OK. Fix yourself a cup of coffee, and get ready to organize, further process, or tag your images

Another Road
1. Select the images in Bridge 2. Menu: Tools|Photoshop|Image Processor 3. Choose whatever suits your requirements, format, resize, quality, output folder 4. Press the run button and lean back. |

. BTW, I like Dr. Brown's 1-2-3 script (The Russell Brown Show) over the default Image Processor script - more options . |

Thanks so much for the help. I was able to convert about 280 raw images in about 35 minutes, leaving my laptop unattended while I use another computer for a different task. It also helps with all the repetitive motion problems.
Now I don't have to think twice about using raw for my work. |
