The idea of better performance is appealing. I can't believe how sluggish CS2 feels at times.

I heard it would only work for folks with PSCS2. Correct?

Educational copies are not supposed to be excluded from the beta. They had some problems with some serial numbers, and that is why the official release got delayed a few hours. Any valid CS2 serial number (educational, retail, etc.) is supposed to work.
Here is John Nack's blog entry on this (he is the product manager for Photoshop) http://blogs.adobe.com/jnack/2006/12..._cs3b_dow.html John |

After checking the AdobeLabs site several times in vain during the day, this evening thanks to zoomin (see above) I was able to download a copy of the 'pre-release/public beta' Adobe PhotoShop CS3.0 with new Bridge, new AdobeCameraRAW 4.0, etc, etc. The total download is approx. 440MB, unpacked and installed with all options the software takes approx. 785MB HDD space. Anyone with an account (or willing to make one on-the-spot) at Adobe(Labs) can download the software. Download and installation do not require entering any code. The code is necessary the first time you actually run the software. The code, that can be obtained from a different section on AdobeLabs, see the bottom of the downloadpage , requires again that you login at the Adobe(Labs) site, and enter a valid AdobePhotoShop CS2 'crystal box' code. See JohnC's post and link for the story of the codes . In return you get a new serial code that unlocks the Beta (up to 05-2007). After unlocking the software starts with prompting you to register the copy, which you again do with your Adobe(Labs) account. The software looks slick and feels slick, it has gotten a '(Camel ) Dark Theme' look, like PhotoShop Elements 5.0 and LightRoom. I loaded and converted some RAW files, direct and through Bridge (same nice new dark look, BTW) and was pleasantly surprised at the speed of operation, definitely faster than PS CS2, that I ran the same files through -before- and -after- using PS CS3 to compare.AdobeCameraRAW 4.0 is indeed a different cooky than the present ACR 3.6! The influence from the acquired RSP/RSE team is very noticeable, as it is in Adobe's LightRoom. Truely a zillion settings - 8 channel colour correction, separate for hue/saturation/luminance, etc. If your images don't need 'detailed adjustments' you get the feeling you could print them straight from the adjusted RAW's ![]() All 'n all nice enough *for me* to give PSCS3 a larger 'overhaul' to see how/if it fits/suits *my* 'workflows', your mileage may and will vary ![]() ...hope this is of use to anyone, *my* €0.02 worth... Kindest regards! Max@Home PS: Attached please find the first three files I ran through ACR 4.0, a series called 'Oooooppppsss...' ![]() __________________
