If you create your watermark in black you can save it with the name indicating that it is black, i.e. something like "Watermark-Black". Then press Ctrl-I (Command-I) to invert the image - instant white image. Save that with the name indicating the color.

Now just bring up the proper watermark and copy it onto your photo as a layer. You can then change the opacity of the layer and change the size and position of the watermark.

Get LightRoom so you can place your watermark on 100's of images with the click of a button.

In CS5, make your watermark on a transparent layer. You can then add any color you wish to that layer, save it, and copy it to any image.

How does one insert the (c) copyright symbol using the type tool in Ps5?

One option is to use the copyright symbol included in the Custom Shapes. Select the Custom Shapes from the Shapes tool flyout menu of the tool bar. Go up to the options bar and under the triangle context menu of Shapes, scroll to the bottom and you will find it. Before you drag it across your open image, select a colorin the box in the option menu.
Cheers, Murray
