Jay,

Those were great. I have a lot to learn. I just got Lightroom so I have to practice. It seem like a great program.

I am surprised that you left you almost slip in the river in the video. That is exactly what I am always worried about since I am alone when I shot. I bet the water was cold. Was Michele laughing her butt off?

Photomatix- I see that you make adjustments on the same slider a bunch of times. That could be one of my problems, I usually just adjust only once. I see how the histogram changes so now I know what to look for.

I am sure that anyone new to HDR will find this tutorial very informative.

Thank you for all your great information and the time you put into these.

Jordan

Jay, What tripod is that? You say what the head is but not the tripod. I have a Amvona 720 imagine, discover, connect.

This is just too heavy to carry around. I bought a monopod but for HDR's it really does not work all that well. Your tripod seems small enough. I looked and I think your ball head is about $60. Did you get it together or as pieces?

Thank you in advance.

Jay, I just wanted to thank you for these tutorials. I am reviewing them as I try and process some of my recent shots. I am working towards reducing the halos and chromatic aberrations, as you demonstrate in your video. Thanks again for sharing these! I'm hoping they help me improve my HDR processing.

Jordan, I got the tri-pod and ball head separately, but I paid over a $100 for the ballhead about 2 years ago or so. I really wasn't that concerned with the tri-pod itself, so I ordered the mid-grade metal 3-section manfrotto. I'm not sure which model, but it was around $100 or so at the time a purchased it. It is a large tri-pod, but in the videos it's always setup small. the legs extend to a regual tri-pod size It's pretty heavy, but not to bad. maybe it weighs 5 lbs or so?

Jason-

Thank you for providing this tutorial I have only watched thru Pt2, (eed to wait for the kids to go to bed)

I just wanted to say thanks for me making me laugh

I was thinking to myself, I'd be a little more cautious on the rocks, and then sure enough

My tripod & ballhead will be here fri, and then it's off to give this HDR photography a whirl, as I have plenty of guidence with your "schooling"

Jay,

These are the kinds of results I would like to get with my HDR processing. I was trying to view the tutorials, but I can't seem to get them to run. They appear to be loading, but then I just a blue "Q" with a question mark. Any ideas?

Thanks,

70Falcon, It appears that Quicktime is having a problem. Do you use a downloader that might be grabbing the file for download. I had this happen and I had to disable Internet Downloader for the MP4 file type. Then it worked.

Hope this helps.

Jay, I have used your methods and finally got to a place where the water was flowing properly. I will making a post in a little while.
Thank you again.

Thanks Jordan, but I'm not sure how to disable Internet Downloader, or where to find it. I was able to view the tutorials using Firefox Mozilla though, and I must say they are excellent. Thanks for that Jay. I'm guessing some of the Photoshop post processing techniques can be found in Elements 6.

Now I just need to practice more.

I hope you and your camera survived the slippery rocks unhurt. That was quite a moment. Your use of the HSL sliders in LR2 was interesting. I don't use LR but am a big fan of the HSL sliders in ACR (I have CS4) and the LR2 version seems to have more features. We can't click dirctly on the image with ACR for instance.

I also liked your use of LR2 to correct the CAs prior to the HDR conversion, and it is intersting to see different people's approach to the Tone Mapping adjustments.

I am a relative newcomer to HDR and enjoyed your tutorials, so thanks for sharing, and you be careful on those rocks next time.

Elements is a very powerful program, so you should be able to do most of the post processing in there that photoshop can do. Some of the more advanced plug-ins prolly don't work though

No harm done on the minor slip, thanks I've gone down much harder than that at kaaterskill falls last year. However, thank god the camera stayed on the tripod!! I'm skeptical on those quick release plates sometimes

Best,

By the way, what software did you use to edit the video? I love the inset videos and other diagrams (polarization filter), and the slo-mo of the wet rock slip is great, very professional!
Also, what is the learning curve on said software?
