Hi, Ray. How much free hard drive space do you have? Virtual memory is usually about the "paging space" that a program has -- in other words, the fre hard drive space available.

I've had this issue as well on my laptop that only has 2 gig of ram. Photoshop is a memory hog and I find it doesn't do a good job of clearing the ram between different images.
for example: if you edit a 200meg file with lots of layers and then go into your task manager to see the ram being used it will usually be a lot! Then if you close out that file and start editing another, the ram will not clear. So your starting out on a new file with little to no ram available for PS. The solution I found is just restarting PS after I edit large files. It's no big deal and only takes a minute or so. Then PS has fresh ram available for the new project. I hope that helps. Best, Jay |
