With the mention of a video tutorial by Jfrancho I decided to try and make 1 myself
I know the popular demand right now is how to set the camera and more in depth PS processing, but I had to start somewhere. Don't worry, more videos of all that good stuff are to come I figured this would be great for all the beginners just starting out. This is kind of a teaser, because I didn't get to the PS processing parts yet, but I will add them as I create them. As of now I have the Lightroom and photomatix parts created. The intro is partly a promotional segment as I plan on putting these videos on my Smugmug site. Hopefully it will generate some traffic for the camel if people link them out to other forums as well. We all know how that works Feedback or questions would be great, Just post them in this thread All the videos are going to be located in the video tutorial section from now on. You can get to them by clicking this link Resources - Video Tutorials - PhotoCamel - Your Friendly Photo Community Here is the final product: ![]() Edit: 02-28-2008 I just added another video on how to get more of a Grunge/ illustration look to an HDR image. Here is the final product with some addition Photoshop work done beyond the video. Here is the link to the tutorial: Resources - Grungy HDR Tutorials - PhotoCamel - Your Friendly Photo Community ![]() Best, Jay __________________

Jay,
Considering this is just your first dip into video tutorial, it is very slick and professional and weel worth watching. Can't wait for the PS processing additions. Regards, Peter |

No problem Ron
Thanks Peter! The photoshop portion should be a lot of fun and I hope everybody can get something out of it. I'm going to cover a ton of stuff like using the healing brush, some masking, Threshold adjustment layers and how to use it, Lens distortion and how to fix it, Color correction, Sharpening, Noise reduction and how masking can help, and then a few little tricks to really make that image POP. Best, Jay |

Just another notch in your "Must Upstage John" belt. Just kidding, I haven't had a chance to work on any of my vids, let alone solve the issue of where to put them. Babies sure take up a lot of time
Good work, man. |

They really do take up some space! Once there compressed to flash files there remarkable small though. I'm rendering these at 5 FPS with jpeg compression set to 90. It looks really good IMO and works out to about 3 meg a minute or so. Really not bad at all considering a quicktime movie is 400meg a minute for some reason??
I want to add these to my Smugmug site, but they have to be less than 5 minutes in length and apparently not .swf format. I'll save that for another day Best, Jay |

Yeah, it took me a while to figure that out! you can prolly go lower on the jpeg compression, but I wanted really good image quality so I opted for 90. I never compared a lower result though.

Thanks for this, although I haven't played with HDR as yet, I think your efforts will go a long way to my understanding of the subject.
I've seen some brilliant example's with HDR, but also often, many are not to my taste. Can't wait to see all the tuts you plan on this subject. You are doing a very good job on this.. |
