These are my first ever efforts using a Variable ND filter, to increase exposure times in bright light. Both photos are multiple exposure HDRs, both are blended manually in Photoshop, with the different exposures in separate layers and then masked together. HDR was used to try to accomodate the brightness range from sunlight whitewater down into the forest shadows.
For what it's worth, I used the camera's JPGs for these. Comments and suggestions welcome. Deschutes River Rapids This is a short distance above Benham Falls. Four exposures: ================================================== ===================== Benham Falls (Deschutes River) Five exposures, manually blended. And a B&W conversion of the Benham Falls shot: ![]() __________________

The composition is great but I am inclined to think the water is just a bit dark and blends in too much with the surroundings. Can you punch up the water a bit without blowing the highlights?

Hi
Beautiful scenes but they are a bit dark I agree with Saffron's suggestion |

I think the shadows are too dark and in some cases fully plugged. This high contrast scene would definitely benefit HDR processing. You could take a series of bracketed exposures, without needing to use any ND filter, and just merge them witha HDR s/w. Something to consider in the future.
