My wife and I have recently celebrated one of our major wedding anniversaries, you know the one where she dragged me down to the Jewellers to buy her an expensive ring encrusted with rubies. I was told I could have a new Big Boys Toy i.e. camera, lens, computer. So I am now the owner of a Panasonic Lumix GX1 with 14-42 power zoom. I wanted something that I could carry around with me on occasions when it would be inconvenient if not impossible to carry a great big camera bag with DSLR and lenses.
I attached my first results all hand held 5 exposures, processed with SNS and the CS5. I have to admit I am very pleased with the results. I still however have a learning curve to go through. I found it quite unsettling the first time I used it. I have never had such a physically small camera before (the hand book is bigger than the camera) and it is the first camera I have ever used without a viewfinder (although I can purchase one as an accessory). It is small enough to go into a largish pocket and, I hope, I will have it with me for those times where in the past I have said "Oh, I wish I had my camera!!" For those who don't know it, the images are of the fortified bridge, the only one in the UK, at Monmouth the nearest town to me ElBeardo ![]() __________________

Brilliant photos and processing.
Martin P.S. I have recently ditched my Panasonic bridge camera and opted for the Canon G12 which I now carry everywhere. Either in my anorak pocket or slung around my neck. I am now taking more photos than ever before - always hand-held ![]() Martin |

Yes Elbeardo, that's a nice set.The one I prefer is the first one but the sky has been dramatically digitized during the uploading process(I suppose):I would prefer it much more continuous. On the hdr point of view,it's perfect:details everywhere.

Many thanks for all the positive comments I am really pleased with the first set of results and am looking forward to using this camera and getting to know it better.
Martin my intention is to carry this with me whenever I go out so hopefully I can get all the shots I have missed over the years. Jessea I am not surprised the image is digitised as a 200MB tif file has been reduced to a 150K jpg. I agree the first one is the one I prefer but I will have to go back again later in the year when the setting sun is on the front of the bridge. I have some I took last year with the 7D but didn't process straight away. When I did I found out that somehow I managed to mess the focussing up. ElBeardo ![]() |
