Default News about Oloneo's ghosting feature

Oloneo released info about the version 1 going on sale.

But questions remain about the (currently) non-functional ghosting feature.

I emailed support and asked about the feature.

As an FYI, here is the reply:

Quote:
We hope to have an improved align/ghosting feature ready before the V1. In
any case, we will release a fully functional trial version of the V1 so you
will be able to test again before purchase.
Which means they have still not found a solution ("We hope..."). But it also means that you will be able to try before you buy.

I also hope they will find a solution. All else considered, it is an awesome app.

From my personal point of view, I will not purchase it if the ghosting does not work - even with the beta tester discount.

Just last night I did a 3-exposure set with VERY little movement in one select spot. Oloneo was not able to produce a usable image. Photomatix did EASILY on the Auto / Normal setting.

Alignment is a very basic requirement and I am very surprised that they have not dealt with it properly. There are loads of panorama makers out there which do a first class job of aligning images - even compensating for poor resolution and lens distortion at the edges of images.

I agree and that's why I wrote them the email. I personally would go a step stronger than "basic requirement" and call it an absolutely mandatory feature. The whole essence of HDR is multiple exposures and because lots of people do hdr outdoors, movement happens.

If they don't solve the problem, the only thing oloneo would be useful for is the single-file false hdr's.

That's why I would not buy it. The thing that makes Oloneo unique is the adjustment features that photomatix does not have. But that can be done in PS, too.

Lots going on here, but their language "we hope" says much.
