It appears you want it both ways. You say you want to help but when help is asked for, you get lets just say, less than pleasant. This is not a one time incident. Nearly all of your responses are acidic in nature. Maybe attempt to take ownership of that. I guess your the self appointed judge and jury.

I can`t see the big deal one person asked a perfectly innocent question then someone jumps on the soapbox and starts a rant. I asked a simple question same person told me to learn the basics before I go wild. The start of this thread asked why is HDR becoming a culture in todays photography not please will you kick me in the nuts? Get over it, not every one thinks they are as good as you think you are.

You guys got it all wrong. If you read the other numerous times people have come in here and told the OP that what they did was wrong and they didnt have to HDR. The feeling is they treat people who use HDR as some buffoon with a new camera and no skills at all. I may have overreacted a touch in this case if it was a legitimate question of why hdr. There should be a sticky put at the beginning of the HDR Forum so its the first thing everyone sees. Whether they want to use it or not is by choice. But there would be no reason to be asking this question. I think my HDR approach is ok for most. I do realistic shots as best I can. But Im not going to put someone down for doing it different. I also believe that we should try to answer our own questions first. Look up HDR, see what it is, how its done and what it supposed to achieve. Look at examples both elsewhere and here. If after that you dont see any point to HDR then I suggest just move on, because you never will. But because you dont understand it dont put down those that do.

I was taught from an early age that if you don`t know or don`t understand ask a question and I got an answer, your philosophy is sod of and google it. Now your saying we have got it all wrong, and you may have overreacted it this was a genuine question, you know it was but yet you still you tried to to make the person look small. I do alot of IR photopraphy I am a long way from perfect but if someone asked why I tell them because I like the look, You on the other hand would tell them to sod off and google it. I know you don`t like IR, I don`t like flowers but if I see a picture that I like I will leave a favourable comment, If I don`t like it the I don`t comment. The saying goes "Put your brain in gear before you open your mouth" in your case "before you touch the keyboard".

There are some that will never admit that they might have just over reacted to a legitimate question. Sorry Bynx, it was not a question that brought out the vitriol but a question I wanted to know the answer for my own reasons. Not to put you down, since I don't think I have ever seen a picture you posted, nor to put down the genre but to gain some knowledge as to why people use HDR. Not a damned conspiracy to piss you off. I have withheld responding to your previous posts but I see that you are right, everyone else is wrong, you see conspiracy when none exists. Bynx, go live in your cave where any question that treads on insecurity brings out the lion in you.
I thought this PhotoCamel was a place to ask questions to get the wisdom of those who know the answers. I could google HDR but I kind of know what it is but if you notice, I asked why people did HDR. Others have said that you have little if any patience for questions since you know the answer and will not give elementary answers but only criticism. I wanted to see the point and based upon several good and patient posters, I learned. I also learned something from your posts but I choose not to follow the "advice." Thanks anyway, when you teach your class on HDR, please let me know.

I don't want to add fuel to an already heated discussion, but, HDR is a passion of mine, I've made not secret of it, and, from a very basic beginning, I believe I have come to be very good at HDR. I have been able to do this in a very BIG way due to the generosity of the good folk at Photocamel. Every week I learn something new here. Sometimes its from long standing members, often its from new members with a new and fresh approach. Without exception, what I learn from other members, is due to a desire to learn, not ridicule. Discussion and argument are healthy, when done from a perspective of learning. Bickering never does anything except foment dissension and upset. While I respect the opinions expressed in this thread, quite frankly, I think it has gone way over the top. A simple and honest question was asked. Answers should have been offered in kind. Period.

edk, I am sorry if anything I have said has offended you, but like you stated a question was asked and a civil answer should have followed, again I am sorry for my part.

I too agree 100%. The only reason I reacted like that was that the question has been asked a lot lately and in the way that made us who do HDR sound stupid or incompetent and we use HDR as a means to cover up poor photographic skills. I apologize to the OP for overreacting.
