Neither a shell nor a damaged toenail. The closeup power I can muster is good but not good enough for the toenail.

Then again, here's one I call my "thumbnail sketch." Doesn't really have anything to do with the Guess the Close-Up image though. Keep guessing.

Not pillow stuffing. The tissue paper guess is close enough that you might want to look around for your own GTCU submission but, before I call it, how do you explain the apparent layering that you have already noted?
