Yo - try this for size. One hint: the original was made of solid gold. PS I can't make the picture any larger, it just blurs up when I do.

I was initially going to say a car jack, but given the hint, I think perhaps a railroad spike, specifically a duplicate of the golden spike that joined the east-west railroads in Utah. Or perhaps a spike hammer. Or hows about a part of a solar array or some other part of a satellite/solar panel/space craft. OR maybe I'm just pulling things out of my butt completely?

brosig is the winner. It's a space craft called "El Dorado" belonging to Buck Rodgers. This space craft was made of solid gold and comes from the planet Trantor. It is also magnetic. This particular model is on display in the bar of the Keg in Kent, Wa.
