Multi-pulley system that multiplies the
lifting ability of a crane or other load
lifter. Basically a block and tackle, but
not of the NFL variety.

Or .....

Part of a cable-supported structure
such as a bridge or catwalk ? Might
even be part of a lift bridge, canal
lock, ship's cargo hatch, etc. If it's
part of a missile silo, the apparent
lack of maintenance is kinda scary.
A little WD-40 goes a loooong way !

--------------------------------------

Gotta figger this out before Scoundrel
sees it cuz he'll know eggsaklee what
it is. He's such a freakin engineer

'Specially when you're hanging a multi-million dollar boat from it.

You got it with crane. A gantry crane. Congratulations!

I got the idea for this after my "Plan A" fell through. That was when I went to shoot the Space Shuttle tank coming into Marina Del Rey almost a year ago. There just wasn't enough closeup detail shots to make a large hotdog interesting.

Way cool ! I suspect Scoundrel must be
hiking in Nepal or something ....

So if the tank was plan-A and the gantry
was plan-C ... what pray tell was plan-B ?

Anywho, gotta find something for #1856.

Might take a coupla days. The macro rig
lives full time on the heavy tripod these
days, but I'm really running short of cool
chatzkes for the game. Eyes wide open !

Ha, plan B was very short lived. It would have involved going to work to get a ************. Trying to explain to security that "I'm just borrowing it" made me do a re-think. I blanked out what it was just in case I get another GTCU to do.

Like you're a nuclear physicist or such ? Or worse yet,
a biological warfare researcher .... scary ! Or maybe
you work with animals ? Primates ? Bats ? Wombats ?

OTOH, prehaps you could do the photography on site,
no need to smuggle the item, or critter, past security.

Photos at work will be possible for the next several weeks. I will have a fairly relaxed schedule. Need to finish a repair on my boss' guitar first.

No top secret labs for me, I have worked in the film industry for the last 26 years.
