You might want to touch base every so often with these sites:
http://www.photoshopuser.com/ and http://www.ppa.com/ Adobe sponsors instructional tours several times a year that include not only PS techniques but also photographer oriented classes. Many times I've noticed Texas dates. Photoshop World being held here in Miami this year is offering two shoots the day before the convention starts (one nature and the other urban) with instruction. The PPA also has some of its own classes. Not sure if any are held in Texas. The PPA also lists some classes/tours not directly sponsored by the PPA but of high quality. You can also check out the National Geographic site, they have instructional tours. Various camera manufacturers also do tours with classes, check your manufacturer's site to see if they sponsor anything. B&H holds classes at random times throughout the year, but those are mostly in NYC. You might want to check your local camera stores to see if they sponsor anything in your area. Local camera clubs can also be a good source of classes. Also, local colleges and environmental/nature groups hold classes, workshops, etc. some of which are photography oriented. HTH, Jeffrey |

Shelbell82,
How about these? Big Bend with David Muench; April 20-26, 2006 (David is very good) http://www.arizonahighways.com/page....shps&nav=photo Another going on the same time (but shorter) at Big Bend. http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/newsmedi...?req=20060306b If you want to travel, and can pretty soon, this is one I was considering but couldn't make it work... http://mentorseries.americanphotomag...§ion_id=21 I'd like to go to Texas to shot some, but never get around to it. I think the first one woul dbe great, but probably expensive. David Muench isn't bad with a camera. Maybe he post processes a lot If I ever get down that way, I'll let you know. |

Opps, forogt one. There is a Nikon School in Dallas on March 25th. Nikon Schools are a one-day deal, so maybe that is what you want to get your tiny feet wet, and learn what to expect and what not to?

Mr. Pickles' response made me think of a few more possibilities (especially if you can get work to subsidize you). There are a few photographers with national/international recognition that run teaching excursions. Michael Reichmann of Luminous Landscape, Moose Peterson, and Art Morris are three names that come to mind without stretching my limited brain cell(s) too much. I'm sure there are others. I'm still regretting not having enough cash to be able to sign up for Mr. Reichmann's trip to the Antartic. Especially after seeing some of the shots taken there. Art Morris (Birds as Art) seems to be all over the place with teaching trips. One caveat though. Many of these notables are also into selling equipment along with teaching. Make sure you can resist their digs at your pocketbook beyond instruction.
http://luminous-landscape.com/ http://www.birdsasart.com/index.html http://www.moosepeterson.com/home.html They primarily focus on nature/landscape photography. If that isn't your interest, some newspaper photographers run urban shoot workshops. I'm sure there are many photojournalistic style photographers that run similar outings/classes. It's just more difficult to market an excursion to an impoverished urban environment than a trip to Kenya. ![]() |
